SILAPATHAR, may 31 � The flood-affected and under-developed Dhemaji district managed to remain on top in the Arts and Commerce stream and got the third position in Science stream in the state.
Altogether, 7113 students appeared in the Arts stream of which 6520 candidate passed, with the pass percentage being 91.66. In the exam, 437 got first division, 2683 were placed in the second division and 3400 passed in the third division.
In commerce stream, only two candidates failed with the pass percentage being 99.43. Three hundred and fifty-two candidates appeared of which 47 were placed in the first division, 177 in the second division and 126 passed in the third division.
In the Science stream, district could not remain on the top but managed to get the third position by lagging behind Hailakandi and Darrang districts. Altogether, 1097 students appeared of which 388 were placed in the first division, 543 in the second and 98 in the third division. The pass percentage in the Science stream was 93.80.
Silapathar Junior Science College had an excellent result with 99.32 pass percentage. The college got 112 first divisions with fifteen star marks, 155 second divisions and 28 third divisions.
The district had secured the top position in the HSLC exam conducted by SEBA in the State, the results of which were declared on May 28. The people of the district along with leaders of various organisation have expressed great satisfaction over both the results.
