DGP takes stock of Philobari situation

DOOMDOOMA, July 17 - The DGP of Assam Police Khagen Sharma visited Bijulibon of Philobari under Pengeree PS this afternoon where motorcycle-borne militants gunned down one Nandalal Shah and his daughter Kajol on Tuesday night.

He visited the house of the deceased and assured the people of security. He claimed that though ULFA(l) chief Paresh Baruah had denied involvement in the killing, but police has concrete proof of their involvement.

Earlier also, the banned outfit denied their involvement in such incidents, but later it was proved. The DGP was accompanied by ADGP(L&O) SN Singh, DIG(ER) Satyen Gogoi and the newly-appointed SP of Tinsukia district, Mugdhajyoti Mahanta.

Meanwhile, Dinabandhu Sharma, who was said to be killed in police lathicharge at Makum on Wednesday, actually died in a road mishap, according to a source. A section of people tried to associate his death due to police lathicharge, the source said.

In the meantime, normalcy has returned to entire Tinsukia district after three days of disturbances.
