Deworming of minors from Feb 14

BARPETA, Feb 8: As part of the National Worm Prevention Day agenda, children from 1 to 9 years of age will be administered medicine for worm infestation in Barpeta district from February 14 to 28.

According to a decision taken at a meeting held on Saturday in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Albedazol will be administered orally to the children in schools during the first phase. Door-to-door campaign will be conducted later on, if the situation so demands.

Moreover, a vaccination drive among children below two years of age and pregnant women who have been left out earlier under Mission Indradhanush, will be conducted from February 22.

Dr Rajib Borbora, District Immunisation Officer, informed that the second phase of this mission will commence on March 22. He also stated that this vaccination drive will be conducted in every PHC of the district as it is very necessary to prevent diseases and maintain sound health for children and mothers.

The meeting, presided over by ADC Sabyasashi Kashyap, was attended by the Joint Director of Health Services Dr Tirthanath Sarma, Additional Chief Health Officer Pramathesh Sarma, officials of block PHCs and other departments.
