Dergaon to focus on refusing use of plastics

DERGAON, June 4 - Nature NGO Aashray in association with Dergaon Girls� HS School will observe World Environment Day with a day-long programme here tomorrow.

Dilip Kr Khound, president of the school managing and development committee, will plant a sapling to begin the programme.

Dr Dandeswar Dutta, a senior scientist at the Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI), will deliver an audio-visual lecture on �Threats of Plastic Pollution and our duties�. Dr Minuwara Begum, associate professor of Botany at DKD College, Dergaon, will take part as the distinguished guest.

A play on conservation of birds, titled �Pakhir Kaklire Sushuvita Ddharani� will be presented by the school students, and a documentary on nature conservation �Seuji Asam� will be screened. A project on plastic refusal will be initiated during the programme. Aashray officials have urged nature lovers to attend the programme where they will get the opportunity to interact with the experts.
