By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 28 Members of four organizations Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG), Guwahati Senior Citizens Association, Kharghuli Unnayan Samiti and Uzanbazar Mahila Unnayan Samiti will stage a demonstration in the Lakhiram Baruah Kshetra in the city on Monday demanding intervention of the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to solve the burning problems of the State.

In a release here today, SGBG president Dhiren Baruah said that till date, no solution is in sight to solve the problem of insurgency, as a result of which scores of innocents are still losing their lives every year and the economy of the state has been badly affected.

Baruah said that even after 25 years of signing of the Assam Accord, the problem of infiltration of foreigners to Assam has not been dealt with and even the process of updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was suspended because of opposition by some anti-India forces.

Over the years, the State and Central Governments failed to take effective steps for the solution of the burning problems of the state and even the inter-state boundary disputes are yet to be settled. The SGBG called upon all political parties and non political organizations to join hands for the solution of the burning problems of the state and said that only constitutional safeguards would be able to save Assam.
