Demand to repair PWD road

By Correspondent

BAIHATA CHARIALI, March 5 The people of Karara-Patidarrang and Betna mouza have expressed strong resentment over the non-repair of the Chariali-Ramgaon-Nagrijuli PWD road by the authorities concerned after repeated pleas by the public.

One of the most important and busy roads of North Kamrup and Baksa district, this road is familiar among the people of the area as the Baihata Chariali-Goreswar PWD road which is connected with the national highway 31 and 52.

Though six to seven kilometres of the road from Baihata Chariali is in normal condition, the remaining portion of the road is in a pathetic state.

The edges of the road are broken for which the black-top portion is getting contracted day by day. On the other hand, a number of potholes have surfaced on the road in many places which has made plying of all types of vehicles inconvenient and sometimes even dangerous as a number of road accidents have occurred in those places.

The stretch in front of the Muktapur MV School, Nasatra Kendutol Chowk, Sutarkuchi, Isharcamp, Jatiyabhangara and some other places of the road have been identified as worst areas where big potholes have developed disturbing normal communication.

Leading citizens and AASU activists alleged that though sizeable funds were allotted for the repair of the road earlier, substandard work has only made the conditions worse. They alleged that the MLAs of the concerning areas also remain mute about the deplorable condition of the road and have no time to review the condition of the road.
