Demand to arrest anti-social element

DIPHU, July 5 - Activists of All Adivasi Students� Association of Assam (AASA) along with members of several other socio-cultural groups staged a sit-in demonstration at National Highway-39 in Sukhanjan locality under Bokajan PS demanding arrest of one Umesh Gupta for his alleged anti-social activities.

It may be mentioned here that Umesh Gupta, a fourth grade employee of a school of Bokajan, made offensive remarks against All Adivasi Students� Association of Assam recently. The student organisations have condemned Gupta for making the hate statement and have demanded his arrest within 24 hours.

�Umesh Gupta who is involved in numerous anti-social activities in that area and carries out variety of illicit businesses will have to be arrested and given exemplary punishment. If he is not arrested within 24 hours, we will stage vigorous protests in the future,� Anil Topo, an adavasi leader said. The leaders alleged that in spite of having several evidences about Gupta�s involvement in anti-social activities, the local police have let Gupta carry out all illegal activities freely.
