DIMAPUR, June 15 - The Eastern Nagaland People�s Organisation (ENPO) has resolved to meet Central leaders soon to pressurise the Government of India to expedite the process of creation of a separate State of Frontier Nagaland. It also resolved to abstain from participation in the coming Independence Day celebration if the Centre fails to respond to the demand before August 10 next.
This was one of the resolutions adopted at the ENPO�s central executive council meeting and 15th reaffirmation on December 18, 2007 and Tuensang resolution on June 11 and 12, the ENPO said in a release today.
The ENPO also reaffirmed its resolve to uphold its Tuensang resolution which opposes bloodshed, threat, intimidation or any form of violence within its jurisdiction.
It reiterated its September 29, 2005 Longleng resolution which states that there must be no violence in any form such as killing, kidnapping, physical assault, threat, intimidation, undue disturbances, etc., on its leaders, tribal leaders, frontal organisation leaders and innocent public by any armed cadres within its jurisdiction. The ENPO further decided not to extend any �public cooperation� to any faction or group for non-compliance.
Besides chief executive council members of the six tribes and frontal organisations under the ENPO, the meeting was attended by the elected members of eastern Nagaland and representatives from different Naga political groups of eastern Nagaland region, the release said.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Naga Students� Federation (ENSF) has decided to keep its proposed ultimatum to the Nagaland Government in abeyance following a Cabinet meeting and an appraisal from the department concerned.
The decision was taken at an emergency presidential meeting of the ENSF with its six federating units � Confederation of Chang Students� Union, Khiamniungan Students� Union, Konyak Students� Union, Phom Students� Conference, United Sangtam Students� Conference and Yimchungru Akheru Arihako, a release issued by the Federation said.
The Federation, however, warned that the suspension of the ultimatum would be subject to the outcome of a meeting scheduled with the State Government. It hoped that the Government and the department concerned would come out with a solution so that no untoward situation arises.
The Federation had on June 3 served an ultimatum to the State Government to address its demands of age relaxation for professional qualifications for the six tribes of eastern Nagaland and setting up adequate number of BEd colleges in the four districts inhabited by these tribes, by June 13.
