BALIPARA, Nov 18 - In a united voice Bodoland movement groups comprising the ABSU, People�s Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement and the NDFB (P) today reiterated the demand for Bodoland in a huge public rally organised by the Sonitpur and Biswanath district committees of the ABSU at Chardwar-Nyishi Nyokum Lapang Field near Balipara in Sonitpur today.

The huge rally organised on the demands of fulfilling five special issues including a solution to the long-pending Bodoalnd demand, ensuring political rights to the Bodos living outside the proposed Bodoland, Hill status to the Bodos living in Karbi Anglong, immediate implementation of the Forest Rights Act. 2006 in Sonitpur and Biswanath districts and immediate inclusion of villages in forest areas under the Panchayati Raj System, was attended by the vice-president, ABSU, Dipen Boro, Lawrence Islary, general secretary, ABSU, Kastom Basumartary, education secretary, ABSU, Gobinda Basunatary, general secretary, NDFB (P), Abit Narzary, W Bilirthi, joint secretary, NDFB (P), Rwmwi Basumatary, Uday Ramchiary, Bijay Narzary, Bhraman Baglary, vice-president (PJACBM), Khaneswar Boro, president, Sonitpur ABSU, Rajesh Basumatary, GS, Sonitpur ABSU, Nijwm Basumatary, Sangal Basumatary, Ananda Daimary, Karnilius Daimary among others.

Addressing the huge rally, ABSU�s vice president, Dipen Boro warned the Centre and the State government to solve the Bodoland issue and the other above-mentioned issues as soon as possible, otherwise Bodos will expedite their movement in a vigorous mood. �The Bodos and other tribal people are facing a lot of trouble in their day-to-day life for non-resolution of their long-pending problems, which has already taken a toll of over 5000 innocent people�s lives. Bodo people in Gohpur had faced a genocide in 1989 and were rendered homeless for a couple of years just because they joined a democratic movement for their political rights,� he rued urging the present government to create Bodoland as soon as possible as per the policy through which Telengana was created. He also mentioned that if Telengana can be created under the Indian Constitution, why not Bodoland.

Another guest of the event, Gobinda Basumatary general secretary, NDFB (P) mentioned that until and unless the Bodos get Bodoland, they wouldn�t rest. He also said that some anti- Bodo elements have always been trying to demoralise the Bodoland Movement by various means.
