Delhi team win ID Cup defeating AP Blues

NAGAON, Sept 26 � Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), Delhi defeated Assam Police Blues by a margin of 4-3 through tie-breaker to lift the ID Cup title.

In the final here today, the schedule time and extra time ended goalless. Both the teams got a number of chances but failed to score.

Assam Police got six corner chances and CAG got seven chances but failed to convert.

In the tie-breaker, Edison, Ravinder, Jasawanpreet and Harminder of CAG found the back of the net but Dipesh failed. For Assam Police, Kusha Rabha, MN Singha and Joseph Maslai netted the ball while Bikash Singh and Monoj Bodo failed to score.

Earlier, SP Arabinda Kalita was introduced to players, while State Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain was present in the prize distribution ceremony.

In its first match of the tournament, Assam Police defeated Radial Club, Nagaon by a 2-0 margin. In the quarterfinal they won against Royal Wahingdoh Club, Shillong 2-1 and in the semifinal they defeated Nagaland Police 3-1.

On the other hand, CAG who made their maiden appearance in tournament , defeated 9th AP Bn, Barhampur 1-0 in their first match. In the quarterfinal they beat Customs, Kolkata 8-1 and in the semifinal they defeated OIL Football Club, Duliajan 5-4 through a tie-breaker.
