Delhi take control against Assam

GUWAHATI, Dec 1 � Host Delhi is in total command against Assam in their Ranji Trophy Super League match.

On the opening day of the four-day match at Roshanara Ground in Delhi today, put into bat, Delhi amassed 332 for five. The wicket seems to be a batsmen paradise, as barring openers Shikhar Dhawan and Yogest Nagar, all the top order Delhi batsmen got runs. Skipper Mithun Manhas and Mayank Tehlan remained unbeaten with 100 and 61 respectively and the partnership added 145 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket.

The Assam bowlers were made to toil by the Delhi batsmen as Unmukt Cahand and Aditya Jain also scored 59 and 58 respectively while other middle order Puneet Bist chipped in 36. Captain Mithun was in peak form and completed his ton off 163 balls. He was at the crease for 215 minutes and cracked nine fours and a six. His unbeaten partner Tehlan faced 120 deliveries and hit seven boundaries.

For Assam, only medium pacer Dhiraj Goswami got some success and picked up three wickets. Abu Naschim Ahmed and Arlen Konwar were the other wicket takers.
