Delhi has 13 COVID-19 patients from Assam

NEW DELHI, April 30 - The total number of COVID-19 positive patients from Assam undergoing treatment in the national capital has gone up to 13 today from 10 detected on Wednesday.

According to sources in the Assam government, one Konkonjyoti Bora who was undergoing treatment here was detected as COVID-19 positive late last night and has been shifted to a quarantine centre.

A girl hailing from Dibrugarh, who lives in the Patel Nagar area of west Delhi and was undergoing treatment in a hospital, was detected positive for COVID-19 and has been shifted to a quarantine centre here.

Another patient Ashok Kumar Sharma, who was undergoing treatment at Batra Hospital here, was declared positive for COVID-19 and shifted to a quarantine centre. Later, doctors shifted him to Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital, sources said.

Till last night, at least 10 patients, including the seven CRPF jawans of the 31 Battalion based in the Mayur Vihar camp, besides three others � all hailing from Assam � were detected as COVID-19 positive and shifted to different quarantine centres across the national capital.

With more than 40 positive cases reported so far, the 31 Battalion of CRPF has become an epicentre of COVID-19. Mohammad Ikram Hussain, who hailed from Barpeta, Assam and served in the battalion, died on Tuesday.
