Deka seeks CMs intervention

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 10 - MP Ramen Deka has sought the intervention of Chief Minister Sarbanananda Sonowal on the issue of general settlement of land in Assam asserting that such a step will provide relief to the agricultural sector.

In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, Deka said that this settlement will increase the State revenue and save the government vacant land from illegal encroachment. Deka also insisted that the State Government inquire into all misdeeds and corruption charges of the earlier governments.

Deka called upon Sonowal to address the grievances of the Kalita community, including the demand of the community to include it in the tribal list along with six other communities to keep in balance the demographic change.

On the other hand, Deka called for setting up a Kalakshetra in the name of the great king Kumar Bhaskar Barman on the north bank of Brahmaputra of undivided Kamrup.
