UDALGURI, March 15 - A group of anti-social elements chased a full-grown male deer and mercilessly killed it at Bandarguri village under Udalguri Police Station at around 10 am today.
The deer, probably straying from the jungle nearby, was roaming about in the village and became an easy prey for the anti-socials.
Police and forest officials subsequently rushed to the village and recovered the body of the deer and sent it for post mortem.
Meanwhile, efforts are under way to nab the culprits.
The Udalguri district committee of Aranya Suraksha Samiti, Asom has demanded exemplary punishment to those found guilty of committing the crime.
