JORABAT, Sept 14 - The Dimoria Tribal Organisation along with other organisations of Dimoria like Karbi Students� Organisation, Boro Students� Organisation and Tiwa Students� organisation staged a protest near the Sonapur Circle Office today against the declaration of many areas in the Dimoria-Sonapur region as �eco-sensitive zone�.
Ratneshwar Rahang, president of Dimoria Tribal Organisation said their organisation would not accept the declaration made by the government as it would hamper the communities living in the area. He also demanded land pattas to the people who have been living in the region since long before declaration of Amchang as a wildlife sanctuary on June 19, 2004.
�We will resort to economic blockade if our demands are not met soon,� he added.
A memorandum in this regard was submitted to the Chief Minister through the Sonapur Circle Officer.
