Debate, quiz contests held at Pandu College

GUWAHATI, Nov 2 - The 21st Nanda Talukdar Memorial North-East Inter College/University Debate Competition and the 14th Dipul-Pranjit Memorial North-East Inter College/University Quiz Competition were organised by the Pandu College Students� Union (PCSU) in the college premises on October 30 and 31 respectively, according to a press release today.

The topic of the debate was, �In the opinion of the House Indian media, instead of being impartial is rather politically motivated.� Sixteen teams from various colleges and universities of North East India participated in it, with the Tezpur Central University team represented by Moitryee Dutta and Sneha Roy, being adjudged the best team. The University Law College (GU) team represented by Nihal Chetri and Marugar Rosabel, was the runner-up team. The best debater award went to Bishaldeep Kakaty of Gauhati University, while Dhiman Patgiri of College of Veterinary Science, AAU, and Nidarshan Nandan Koushik of Cotton University bagged the 2nd and 3rd best debater awards respectively.

Judges� special awards went to five participants, Subrata Dutta (GU), Bijit Kalita (IMM), Annwesha Mahanta (B Borooah College), Animesh Anand Bordoloi (National Law University) and Dibyaraj Dutta (Gauhati Medical College).

Dr Bidula Sarmah of Gauhati University conducted the debate as the Speaker, while Gautam Sarma, Umi Deka Baruah and Mridul Barman were the judges.

In the quiz contest conducted by Dipangkar Koushik and Dilip Sarma, the Gauhati University team represented by Dhrubajyoti Barman and Arunabh Sharma, was adjudged the best team, and the Gauhati Medical College team represented by Bibhuti Handique and Rupankar Nandi, was adjudged the 2nd best team.
