GUWAHATI, March 9 - Aalok - d Light, a Guwahati-based NGO for women and children observed International Women�s Day at Domdoma College, Kulhati, Hajo with a two-day programme which concluded today.

A debating competition on superstitions was held on the occasion among students of five colleges. A meeting on women�s rights and empowerment was another highlight.

Internationally-acclaimed woman activist Birubala Rabha was felicitated by the NGO and Domdoma College. Rabha in her speech called upon the women to fight against all forms of superstitions and said that education was essential to wipe out many social problems.

Wellknown NRI doctor Karuna Sagar Das and his wife Arundhuti Das also addressed the function.
