AGARTALA, Nov 26 - Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence in New Delhi on Monday evening, has sought Rs 1,000 crore to complete the ongoing development projects in the State, sources said.
The Prime Minister is understood to have responded positively to the Chief Minister�s demand. If the demand is acceded to, the State will receive the funds, which can play a pivotal role in expediting the development works.
In his meeting with the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister also briefed him on the progress of various ongoing projects and the implementation status of Central schemes in Tripura.
As part of his Delhi visit, Deb also had meetings with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (independent charge) for Power, New and Renewable Energy RK Singh and Textiles Minister Smriti Irani.
Interacting with the Defence Minister, Deb discussed various matters relating to the State. In his meeting with Minister of State for DoNER, Dr Jitendra Singh, the Chief Minister raised the demand of Rs 1,300 crore for road construction in the ADC areas and other projects. The Union minister assured Deb of necessary support.
During the meeting with the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Deb proposed to upgrade the primary health centres of Tripura through the National Health Mission, and also sought funds to improve the district hospitals. The Chief Minister revealed that the Union Health Minister accepted the proposal of setting up a new district hospital in Dhalai district, and that the works would commence soon.
Deb also met Union Minister of Textiles, Women and Child Development Smriti Irani and discussed ways to implement various women�s, child development and textiles schemes.
The Chief Minister also interacted with the Minister of State for Power, New and Renewable Energy RK Singh and had a detailed discussion on the present power scenario in Tripura.
