GUWAHATI, June 27 - Milon Chora, a city-based organisation of people hailing from Baligaon in Jorhat district, condoled the death of Charulata Baruah, the oldest citizen of Baligaon who passed away recently at the age of 101.

Baruah, since her childhood, was devoted to writing poetry and articles on Indian scriptures.

Presiding over the condolence meeting, DN Chakravartty dwelt at length on the manifold qualities of Baruah, especially her deep love for nature, sympathy for the poor and downtrodden, and love for humanity.

She was the daughter of eminent educationist of the British era, Sangkhadhar Baruah. She leaves behind five sons and a daughter. Prasanna Barthakur, Devajit Saikia and Sailen Acharya also paid tributes to Baruah.
