Death anniversary of Srimanta Sankaradeva observed

DERGAON, Sept 12 - The students of Amar Sharma High School at Dergaon Kamargaon observed the death anniversary of Srimanta Sankaradeva with a difference. In the daylong programme, a bhaona was staged where girl students took the key role along with traditional naam prasanga by the bhakatas.

The acting of the girl students was so mesmerising that a large gathering expressed their satisfaction over their performance. The students who acted in the main characters in the bhaona are Dipsikha Bora, Parinita Bora, Gangootry Bora, Rimpi Kalita, Ankur Hazarika, Amrit Hazarika, Disarani Rajkhowa, Bitopan Hazarika, Sewali Dutta and Bhagyashree Bora. Among them, the role of Disarani Rajkhowa was widely praised.

Inaugurating the bhaona, retired headmaster of the school, Dhirendra Nath Sharma, praised the efforts of the school authority, while the current headmaster, Abdus Saddek, welcomed the guests and the audiences.

The bhaona conducted by noted Bayan Prafulla Hazarika and his team and managed by teachers Ripun Kondoly and Mriganka Thakur along with school staff Deuty Dutta, Kripal Thakur and Porag Hazarika. The anniversary was also observed in the naamghars of greater Dergaon with extended programmes.

ANN Service adds from Baihata Chariali: Along with the rest of the State, the death anniversary of Srimanta Sankaradeva was observed at Bihdia Chaturbhuj Satra with a daylong programme. The programme of the day began with the lighting of earthen lamps by Satradhikar of the satra at 5 am followed by prasanga by the ayoti and baap.

Later, the main programme of naam kirtan prasanga of ayoti and baap were held where 150 bhakats participated. At around 2 pm, distribution of prasad was carried out and at around 5 pm another ayoti naam kirtan was organised.

Earlier, Ramen Barua, in charge of the State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development, Saraighat Extension Cell, inaugurated a mass cleanliness drive organised under the leadership of the senior citizens of the area.

Our Correspondent adds from Gauripur: Under the aegis of Gauripur Kirtanghar Samiti, the death anniversary of Srimanta Sankaradeva was observed with a three-day programme.

On the first day, a cleanliness drive was carried out on the premises of the Kirtanghar and followed by a tree plantation programme led by local MLA Nijanur Rahman.

On the day of Srimanta Sankaradeva�s tithi, Jyotish Chandra Ray, president of the Samiti, hoisted the religious flag. A programme of nritya prasanga was also by Bishnu Ram Bhakat preformed on the occasion.

Krishna Kanta Ray of Dhorarghat read out the Bhagawat. Several guests participated in the akhanda paal naam also organised on the occasion. The paal naam was inaugurated by BK Mushahary, former MLA. In the evening, earthen lamps were lit by Mahabir Prasad Jain, a social activist of the locality. It was followed by a Bhagawat procession on the following day in the morning.
