HAILAKANDI, Feb 28 � The 39th death anniversary of former minister and politician Moinul Haque Choudhury, regarded as the architect of modern Barak Valley, was observed in Hailakandi district recently. In this connection, a meeting was held at Dr Sashi Bhusan Institute of Education in Boalipar under the auspices of Club Agniveena and Nadeem Publications.

The meeting, held under the presidentship of the general secretary of the institute, Azir Uddin Choudhury, was addressed by the president of Hailakandi Bar Association, Ujjal Kumar Das, Abul Kalam Barbhuiya, secretary of the Hailakandi Bar association, Ahmed Ali, director of Nadeem Publications, Mehboob Ahmed Laskar, president of Club Agniveena, and Anwarul Haque Laskar among others. The speakers described Haque as one of the modern architects of the Barak Valley. They said that every developmental activity in the valley was actually planned by him, and now these activities are being given shape.

They further said that Haque was the symbol of communal harmony and national integration and he fought against corruption at all levels of the society. The speakers urged the young generation to follow the path shown by him. A large number of students and teachers also attended the meeting.
