UDALGURI, Nov 6 - The 4th death anniversary of �Asom Ratna� Dr Bhupen Hazarika was observed in Udalguri town, Harisinga, Rowta, Mazbat of the district with a day-long programme by the AASU, Asam Sahitya Sabha and lower and upper primary schools of the district.
In Udalguri town, the Udalguri Sahitya Sabha organised a day-long programme to pay floral tributes to the legendary singer of the State. In the shraddhanjali programme, local singers and poets presented Bhupendra sangeet and recited poems on Dr Bhupen Hazarika. The programme was anchored by Akhil Kalita, secretary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika Pratimurti Sthapana Samiti, Udalguri and Dijendra Bayan, secretary of Udalguri Sahitya Sabha respectively.
The Udalguri regional unit of AASU also organised shradhanjali at the �Swahid Vedi� at the heart of Udalguri town and organised a drawing competition among schoolchildren and a cultural nite with local artistes dedicated to the singer.
Reports of observation of the shradhanjali programme were also received from Mazbat, Harisinga, Rowta, Orang of the district.
KOKRAJHAR: Along with other parts of the State, the 4th death anniversary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika was also celebrated here with a day-long programme.
The programme was organised by the Kokrajhar district administration at the Basic Training Centre auditorium hall in the heart of Kokrajhar town.
The day-long programme started with the paying of floral tributes at the portrait of the music maestro by Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Madhav Prasad Sarma in the presence of other dignitaries. Shymal Prasad Saikia, SP, Kokrajhar also attended the programme.
DOOMDOOMA: Rich tributes were paid to Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika on his fourth death anniversary at Doomdooma. Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika Fourth Death Anniversary Celebration Committee, Doomdooma organised several programmes at Rupai High School and Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha Bhawan.
In the programme held at Rupai High School, eminent Assamese poet Pranati Baruah delivered a lecture on Sudhakantha�s life and works. Jhumur Samrat Dulal Manki was felicitated in the programme. Students of the school presented a few songs of Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
In the afternoon, Bhupendra Sangeet competition was held at the Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha Bhawan. In the evening, a meeting was held where the prizes of the competition were distributed.
The day was also observed at Learners� High School, Doomdooma Jatiya Vidyalaya, Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya and several other educational institutions of Doomdooma. Tributes were also paid to Sudhakantha at his birth place Sadiya. Various programmes were organised in different parts of Sadiya on the occasion. At 8 Mile of Sadiya, a statue of Sudhakantha was inaugurated today.
