DC�s special quiz on festivals held

NALBARI, April 29 - As a part of the initiative taken by the Nalbari Deputy Commissioner Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury, a special quiz on global festivals under his own programme �Upayuktor Prasna Raijor Uttar� was held at the premises of Gurdon HS School on Saturday.

The quiz competition was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner by lighting an earthen lamp before the portrait of late Dilip Kumar Baruah on the occasion of his death anniversary.

It may be mentioned here that Dilip Kumar Baruah was the doyen of quiz in the North East.

Inaugurating the competition, the Deputy Commissioner said that quiz competitions open the door of knowledge for all sections of people. It needs no boundary of age and designation. He offered rich tributes to the legendary quiz master Dilip Kumar Baruah.

The quiz was conducted by the Deputy Commissioner himself and Dr Samujjal Bharadwaj. In this open quiz competition, the Deputy Commissioner offered Rs 200 and Rs 500 in two categories for each correct answer.

A number of students, guardians and retired persons took part in the competition and received prizes with correct answers.

It may be mentioned here that the Deputy Commissioner after his posting in the district, started this series of quiz competitions once a month on a current issue. The competition has evoked good response in the district.
