NALBARI, May 28 - Nalbari Deputy Commissioner Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury today visited the flood-affected areas of Barbila and Lakhopur under Paschim Nalbari revenue circle and took stock of the flood situation there.
The Deputy Commissioner called upon the people to maintain the anti-COVID norms like social distancing, wearing of face masks, frequent handwashing with proper hygiene, etc.
Later he informed that a total of 32,000 people of Paschim Nalbari revenue circle have been affected by the current wave of floods.
The floodwaters of the Buhradia river submerged about 28 villages under the circle.
Two relief camps have been set up where 1,200 persons have taken shelter. The administration provided relief materials for three days to these affected families.
