Dc orders no vaccination, no annual school result

By STAFF CORRESPONDENT

SHILLONG, Nov 22 - In a controversial order, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, PS Dkhar has passed a diktat that schools should withhold annual results of students who have not been vaccinated against Measles and Rubella (MR).

Meghalaya, together with the rest of the country has completed the vaccination drive last month. However, many parents didnt bring their children for the vaccination.

In the order, Dkhar said that children between nine months and 15 years are required to be vaccinated to eliminate Measles and control Rubella and so the campaign was launched in schools.

The MRVC campaign till date is very low in our district as many of the students refused MR vaccination in their schools. Therefore, in order to increase MR vaccination coverage, you are requested to instruct all the schools not to publish the annual examination results of those students not given MR vaccines and apply the same (rule) for the new admission too, Dkhar said.

The order was passed to the District School Education Officer, who in turn is required to issue the order to the schools across the district.
