By Correspondent

JORHAT, Dec 17 - In response to an application filed by a lady teacher, Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Solanki Vishal Vasant today ordered an inquiry into a case of alleged misbehaviour by the Inspector of Schools (IS) Hiren Gogoi of the district who was allegedly defaming the teacher while she was attending a Government training programme at the Jorhat Sinksha Bhaban as a resource person a few days ago.

Seeking justice from the Deputy Commissioner, the lady teacher of Malow Ali Higher Secondary School of Jorhat stated in her application that the IS used defamatory words against her during the training programme without any reason which was a clear violation of law.

Though the words used the Inspector of Schools hurt the sentiment of the well educated Science teacher, she had refrained from reacting to the misbehaviour of the officer and instead filed an application to the Deputy Commissioner.

I have ordered an inquiry into the matter. Additional Deputy Commissioner Bubul Lekharu has been asked for filing a report, said Vasant.

It may be mentioned here that there were similar allegations of misbehaviour by the Inspector of Schools earlier too, and that a number of social and student organizations had demanded disciplinary action against the person.

Today we submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner seeking disciplinary action against the Inspector of Schools Hiren Gogoi. At the same time we sent another memorandum to the Commissioner of Education Department to take action against the official, said Ritul Pathak, district president of the AJYCP.

He also alleged that the Office of the Inspector of Schools of the district has also turned into a hub of illegal transactions as bribes are demanded from teachers who seek transfers from one school to another.

He further alleged that the Inspector of Schools had defamed a Principal of Karanga Girls Higher Secondary School in a public meeting.
