DC inspects Pamohi market

GUWAHATI, May 10 � A high-level team of officials, led by Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu, inspected the Pamohi wholesale vegetable and fruits market yesterday.

The team comprised senior officials of the Assam State Agricultural Marketing Board, Food and Civil Supplies Department, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) and police.

The team, led by the DC, took an assessment of the prevailing demand-and-supply situation of vegetables and fruits in the city, as well as the prevailing prices.

During the discussion, the merchants� association of the market requested the district administration to provide adequate parking provisions in the place.

The DC directed the Marketing Board officials not to allow retail business within the premises of the market.

Other issues related to cleanliness and hygiene in the market, provision of adequate security and basic amenities to the farmers and wholesalers and other welfare measures were also discussed on the occasion.
