GUWAHATI, July 16 - To raise awareness about the importance of investing in youth skills development and to mark the First International Youth Skills Day, an event was organised by the students undergoing skill training programmes at the Don Bosco Institute (DBI), Kharghuli, on Wednesday. The students also put up an exhibition on the occasion.
PM Philip, executive director the Functional Vocational Training and Research Society (FVTRS), Bangalore, was the chief guest on the occasion. He spoke on the importance of skill training and asked the students to give their best in acquiring the skills needed in today�s industries.
�The nation needs you today, you have to be productive to society and not become a liability. Take the training seriously so that you are able to support your family,� he said.
The programme was also attended by Fr Johnson Parackal, executive director of the DBI.
The DBI, in collaboration with the Employment Generation Mission, Government of Assam, is planning a number of initiatives aimed at developing skills and promoting entrepreneurship among youth, during the mega launch of Skill India Mission.
