Datsun redi-Go Crosses 10000 Bookings

By The Assam Tribune

Just launched recently, last month, on June 7 2016, the Datsun redi-Go has crossed 10,000 bookings within just one month, since launch. The redi-Go had already been a much awaited entry-level compact hatchback, which had already attracted young customers, with its stylish designbuilt on the CMF-A (Common Module Family) platform, developed by both Renault and Nissan. The CMF-A platform is shared by both the redi-Go and the Renault Kwid, which also did well to boost the sales numbers of Renault.

The 10,000 plus bookings of the redi-Go helped Datsun post a record 188 percent sales growth in India in the month of June. Most of the bookings have come from metropolitan and tier 2 cities, going with its urban cross theme.

Commenting on the majority of sales coming from urban areas, Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Private Limited, said, This reflects redi-GO's 'urban-cross' spirit-a unique fusion of compact crossover and hatchback. The vehicle's other features, including high ground clearance, spaciousness and distinctive styling, are proving popular with customers.

The redi-Go is priced at Rs. 2.39 lakh starting price with its higher-end version priced at Rs. 3.34 lakh. The urban cross is known for its class leading ground clearance at 185 mm, with dimensions of 3,429 mm length, 1,560 mm width and 1541 mm height.

Under the hood, the redi-Go also has the 799 cc, three-cylinder, petrol engine that develops 53 bhp and 72 Nm torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, delivering a segment-best fuel economy of 25.17 kmpl. The redi-Go does face stiff competition and challenges from the successful Maruti Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and Renault Kwid, which the Nissan brand has been getting close to pip.

The Datsun redi-Go may be booked from Nissan and Datsuns 227 dealerships across the whole of India. Deliveries of the redi-Go have started since July, says Mr. Malhotra, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India Private Limited.
