By Correspondent

MANGALDAI, Dec 11 - Darrang Deputy Commissioner and the Chairman of the District Health Society, Darrang Ghanshyam Dass has assured early appointment of a new District Programme Manager (DPM) in the National Health Mission (NHM), Darrang following the transfer of the DPM, Sabana N Choudhury to Sonitpur.

Informing this to The Assam Tribune on Tuesday evening on being asked about the reason for the long delay in executing the transfer order of the Mission Director (MD), NHM, Assam Dr Lakshmanan S. that was issued on October 31 last, Deputy Commissioner Dass pointed out that the DPM couldnt be released from the district since the District Community Mobiliser (DCM) of NHM, Darrang who was to take over the charge resigned from the post and now the NHM will post a new DPM .

The execution of the order is presently pending because the DCM has resigned . NHM will post a new DPM soon, he concluded. Confirming her resignation to this correspondent, the outgoing DCM, Mausumi Kalita said, I resigned from that post around a week ago to join a new post in another department.

Meanwhile, leaders of several local public organisations including the adviser of AJYCP Bhabesh Kakati has demanded early release of DPM , Sabana N Choudhury from the district and posting of a new DPM in her post. There shouldnt be no further delay in the release of the outgoing DPM and appointment of a new DPM in the best public interest as the function of a DPM is very important in the implementation of different Centrally-sponsored health schemes, especially in the field of maternal and child health, Kakati justified. The transfer order of the MD, NHM, Assam, stated that the DCM will take over charge of DPM until further orders while the District Health Society will release and enable the DPM to join in the new place of posting within 15 days. In the same order of MD, NHM, Assam, DPMs of Kamrup (Metro) and Nalbari were also transferred.
