Dainik Asam news wins acclaim in Kerala

GUWAHATI, May 21 - A news item published in the Dainik Asam on the present condition of Assamese migrant workers in Kerala has got wide acclaim in the print media of that State.

The news was written by Dainik Asam�s deputy chief of bureau Jitendra Kumar Choudhury and published on May 19. It revealed how the Kerala state government and the local people have been extending a helping hand to Assam�s stranded workers.

The news was based on telephonic interviews with migrant workers engaged in different places of Kerala. During the interviews, the workers stated that they feel safe at their places of work and do not want to come back home, which showed a picture completely contradictory to the misery faced by the migrant workers in other states of the country amid the lockdown.

On May 20, Deshabhimani, a leading newspaper of Kerala picked up the news. It also published the clipping of the news published in Dainik Asam. The news also become the talk of the day in social media on May 20.
