Dainik Asam golden jubilee prog in Jorhat

JORHAT, Oct 4 - Addressing about 270 readers, elite citizens, representatives of various local organisations at the premises of Asam Sahitya Sabha here noted litterateur Dr Nagen Saikia today said that vernacular daily Dainik Asam has became an indispensable newspaper for the people of the State as it has not compromised with the ethics of journalism for the last 50 years.

On the occasion of the celebration of the golden jubilee year of Dainik Asam the meeting was organised at the Danbir Radhakanta Handique Bhaban in the Jorhat premises of Asam Sahitya Sabha.

Paying tribute to the founder of the Assam Tribune Group Radha Govinda Baruah, Dr Saikia said that the newspaper has been providing news, views and analysis in an authentic way giving priority to public interest always.

Attending the programme noted journalist and teacher Prafulla Rajguru opined that readers should prioritise Dainik Asam as their own newspaper as its publication house never compromised with public interest and authenticity since its publication in 1965.

Recounting his memory as a reader and former sports correspondent of the newspaper retired Professor of Assam Agricultural University (AAU) Dr Tapan Dutta said that the newspaper has been playing vital and unique role in the newspaper industry of the State and helped the serious readers to know the truth well.

Along with many other serious readers of the newspaper principal of Jorhat Engineering College (JEC) Dr Aditi Bezbarua also recounted her past memory of reading Dainik Asam for years and various readable publications of Assam Tribune group. Emerging innovator Bhagaban Barua, senior distributor Kula Nath Changkakoty, Kailas Barthakur, Utpal Kotoky, Nirod Chnakakoty, senior citizen Mahesh Bhattacharya were felicitated in the programme. On behalf of Dainik Asam, executive editor, Munin Bayan, circulation manager Syed Jainal Abdin, development officer (circulation) of Assam Tribune Group, BD Goswami and circulation manager of Dainik Asam, Bhaskar Das and many local correspondents and officials of Jorhat office attended the programme. The vote of thanks was offered by BD Goswami.
