SILCHAR, June 19 In an interesting move, the Cachar district administration has said that along with the normal applicants to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the district, the D-voters can also submit their applications.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday to announce the official beginning of the receipt of the application forms across the 160 NRC Seva Kendras in the district from July 18, Deputy Commissioner S Viswanathan and Rajiv Jha, the district coordinator of NRC, said even the D-voters can file their applications along with necessary supporting documents during the process.

The deciding authority is the Registrar General of Citizen Registration, India who will take the call after the scrutiny, they said. The Deputy Commissioner said that the Government directions are being followed in the procedure and the forms will be received during office hours till July 3.

There is no shortage of forms. The officials have been trained to cooperate and guide the applicants and the process will be a citizen-friendly one, Viswanathan assured.
