Cyclone claims 5 at Mankachar

HATSINGIMARI, April 17 � A devastating cyclone at Mankachar in Dhubri district on April 13 last took the lives of 5 persons and injured more than hundred others in different villages.

Villagers informed that the gast of cyclonic wind started at about 10 pm and continued till about 2 am. In the morning it was discovered that a total of five persons including three children died by being crushed inside house and nearly hundred others injured. The cyclone also damaged thousands of houses, big trees etc including some schools, EGS centres, shops and business establishments. The local MLA, Dr MR Mondal visited the cyclone-hit families.
