ITANAGAR, Aug 29 - As part of the �Cycle for Change� initiative of Smart Cities Mission, a cycle rally was organised at Pasighat, the headquarters of East Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh, today.
The cycling event that coincided with the National Sports Day celebration was flagged off by Pasighat East MLA Kaling Moyong and East Siang Deputy Commissioner Dr Kinny Singh from Medical Chariali in Pasighat this morning.
The rally saw participation of youth and people from all walks of life. It was organised by the Pasighat Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (PSCDCL) in collaboration with East Siang Cycle Association.
Through a series of activities, the PSCDCL aims to boost �cycling culture� among citizens as an eco-friendly mode of transport and encourage active and healthy lifestyle.
Besides the MLA, PSCDCL Chief Executive Officer Sukhvinder Singh, Pasighat Municipal Council Executive Engineer Kipa Gagung, officers and staff of Pasighat Smart City, among others, participated in the rally that culminated at Gandhi Chowk, Pasighat Bazar.
�India Cycles4Change Challenge� was launched under the Smart Cities Mission, Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to support the Indian cities to implement cycle-friendly initiatives in response to COVID-19 and for sustainable development.
