Curtains fall on AREIDA Summit

GUWAHATI, Nov 25 � The Assam Real Estate and Infrastructure Developers Association (AREIDA) along with the Guwahati Development Department organised the four-day AREIDA Realty Summit here from November 21, a press release received here stated.

The event had conferences, seminars and an exhibition of property and building material. In the conference, the experts offered presentation on various core issues affecting public interest; including flash floods and waterlogging, scarcity of potable water, traffic management in Guwahati city, mitigation of the perennial power shortage, impact of big dams etc.

Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue), Subhas Das, Dr AK Sarma, and Dr C Millikarjuna, both from the Guwahati IIT, scientist P Kalita from the Central Ground Water Board, Dr PK Goswami, Vice Chancellor of Assam Technical University, PK Bajaj, vice president of L&T, Satyen Phukan, CMD of NEEPCO, Pradyut Bajurbaruah, managing director of Assam Power Generation Company Ltd, Dr Jayanta Pathak, Professor of Assam Engineering College, Ramen Baishya of the Indian Institute of Architects, among others, participated as resource persons.

Dalim Gogoi, on behalf of the GMDA, introduced the online system of building permission. AREIDA president PK Sharma hailed the system and said that this was a long-pending demand of AREIDA and would eliminate the scope of corruption, discrimination and harassment of the applicants from the building permission system.

Scientific solution of the core issues were put forth by the resource persons.The recommendations would be submitted to the Government for consideration, said PK Sharma.

The exhibitions attracted many footfalls with effective buyers visiting the venue, thus bringing cheer to the industry, which has been reeling under prolonged recession. The Guwahati Municipal Corporation and the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority display of the schemes and initiatives of the Government for Guwahati development was an eye opener for the public and appreciated by one and all.

It may be recalled that the event was inaugurated on November 21 by Guwahati Development Department, Urban Development & PWD Minister Ajanta Neog, while Captain Robin Bordoloi, chairman of GMDA was the guest of honour and the chairman of GMC and CEO of GMDA were the special guests.
