DIMAPUR, Feb 23 � After partially lifting it on February 21 and 22, the Tuensang district administration has reimposed curfew for 24 hours in and around Tuensang town.
Informing this in a release today, Tuensang Additional SP & PRO said the curfew in and around the town has been re-imposed for 24 hours as the situation remained tense. Tuensang police also stated that that intensive patrolling and strict vigil is being maintained by the security forces round-the-clock.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has decided to undertake a �goodwill mission� to meet leaders of the two communities engaged in the conflict in the district. The Congress team will be led by CLP leader Tokheho Yepthomis.
The NPCC, in a release, has expressed anguish over the �unabated communal conflict� in Tuensang town, leading to loss of precious lives and disrupting normal life.
The Nagaland Congress also fervently appealed to all communities involved to restrain from escalating the confrontation in true Christian spirit of brotherhood and faith. It also expressed regrets over the failure of the authorities to contain an �otherwise containable situation�.
The Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation (ENWO) undertook a peace mission tour from February 18 to 21 to the violence-hit areas in Tuensang district. While interacting with the district administration and police, ENWO reaffirmed to extend full support and cooperation in their pursuit to bring about peace and normalcy in the district.
