GUWAHATI, Sept 2 - On the first day of the birth anniversary of Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika, the Luitporiya Cultural Group organised a cultural programme yesterday evening in the fond memory of the late music maestro with support from the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam.
Veteran actor Dilip Kumar Hazarika, who was the chief guest for the evening, inaugurated the programme at the Rabindra Bhawan here. He urged the young generation to keep Dr Hazarika�s spirit alive.
A number of artistes like Samar Hazarika, Sudakshina Sharma and Dr Anjanjyoti Choudhury took part in the event and mesmerised everyone with their melodious renditions. Professor Biswajit Ray Choudhury recreated some of the music originally created by Dr Hazarika through his violin performance and left the audience spellbound.
The event also saw a number of dance performances and dance dramas staged by children brought together by upcoming choreographers Akash Jyoti Sharma and Jintu Borpuzari.
