CSR programme of OIL benefits youths

GUWAHATI, April 22 - Around 93 per cent of the 800 youths who undertook the skill and capacity building training last year in hospitality management under �Swabalamban�, Oil India Limited�s CSR programme, have got placements.

Most of these youths are from the interior areas of the State. Of the 800 youths who underwent the hospitality management training at Pragati Edutech under the �Swabalamban� programme, 745 have got placements in the industry, said an official.

Since the programme was introduced in 2013-14, some 2,000 youths have undergone the training and over 90 per cent of them have got placements, making it one of the most successful CSR programmes of OIL.

Some of the youths are now working abroad in groups like The Ritz Carlton (Jeddah), JW Marriott (Dubai) and The Royal Caribbean Cruise (Florida), besides Taj, Oberoi and Hyatt in India, the official added.

During the three-month long residential training programme, all expenses of the youths, including fooding, uniform, etc., are borne by OIL. Buoyed by the success, OIL has enrolled another 800 youths for the training this year.
