CSIR-NEIST distributes herbal ointment free of cost

JORHAT, June 14 - Dr G Narahari Sastry, Director of CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology at Pulibor here distributed herbal anti-arthritis ointment developed by the institute to people residing in the surrounding areas of NEIST on June 11.

A CSIR-NEIST press note stated that the medicines were distributed freely among the poor and needy people at the Anupam Bhuyan ME School at Pokimuri Habigaon.

The fact-sheet stated that the ointment was a unique product developed by the CSIR-NEIST for arthritic pain which has already received lots of appreciation from people across the country.

Dr Sastry, while addressing the people who were given the ointment, said that the products developed by CSIR-NEIST were for the benefit of the common people.

The note further said that the CSIR-NEIST Director told the people that the research institute in future will again distribute products developed by the CSIR-NEIST free to the residents of nearby areas of the institute.

Dr Jatin Kalita, a scientist of CSIR-NEIST along with several others accompanied the Director and briefly described the activities of the institute undertaken for the benefit of the people.

Later, Dr Sastry along with several scientists visited Amaravati Old-age Home at Potiagaon here, the note said.

The Director of CSIR-NEIST interacted with the inmates of the old-age home and distributed the herbal anti-arthritis ointment among the inmates.

The note concluded by stating that Dr Sastry, speaking at the old-age home, highlighted the Indian heritage of developing traditional medicine that included indigenous systems like Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani.
