Crumbling civic infrastructure resented

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 16 - Castigating the State government, district administration and other departments and agencies concerned, the All Guwahati Students Union (AGSU) today said that lack of coordination among the authorities is responsible for the State capitals crumbling civic infrastructure.

Tuesdays deluge in which five persons lost their lives is a grim testimony to the inefficiency, insensitivity and lack of committed efforts on the part of the authorities. Guwahati needs much more than the periodical facelifts done ahead of a VIP visit, and the authorities need to understand this, the AGSU said in a statement.

The AGSU alleged that while all political leaders and bureaucrats want a sprawling bungalow and a plot of land in the city, none has the sincerity and will to address the citys mounting civic concerns. The people are getting fed up with the working of clueless authorities. It is time they acted on a war footing with a sense of purpose, it said.
