Crucial Sahitya Sabha meet held at Dhubri

GAURIPUR, June 10 - The concluding ceremony of the centenary celebrations of the Asam Sahitya Sabha is expected to be held at Dhubri with a two-day colourful programme on December 26-27, 2017.

For the purpose, a meeting of the Asam Sahitya Sabha was held on June 5 on the premises of the Dhubri Sahitya Sabha office. The meet was chaired by Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora, president of the Sabha and the objectives of the meet were explained by Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi, the general secretary. The meet was attended by Thaneswar Malakar, Director, Sarba Siksha Mission, Jadav Sharma, chief convenor of the centenary celebration committee, members of the Dhubri Sahitya Sabha and a host of invitees.

After threadbare discussions, the meet formed a preparatory committee with the Deputy Commissioner as the president and Biswajit Kalita and Habibur Rahman as joint secretaries. The meet felicitated a few senior members of the Sabha for their contributions in the development of the Sabha in the western part of the State bordering Bangladesh and West Bengal.
