GUWAHATI, March 18 - An election review meeting of the CRPF was held at the CRPF Group Centre in the city on Friday, which was attended by all the DIGs and Commandants of the North Eastern Sector.
The IGP (NES) stressed the need for bracing for a smooth conduct of a credible, free and fair poll. Central paramilitary forces have been deployed in large numbers to ensure peaceful election, a CRPF release stated.
The IGP (NES) has been nominated as the chief force coordinator for Assam and Meghalaya by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. ADG (NES) Arun Kumar Sharma, in his address, emphasised the importance of visibility, mobility and neutrality of the forces.
