CRPF Op HQs celebrates 80th Raising Day

JORHAT, July 28 - The Operations Headquarters and 119 Battalion headquarters of the CRPF based at Rowriah outskirts here yesterday celebrated the 80th Raising Day of the force.

A CRPF press release issued by the Operations Headquarters and 119 Battalion headquarters stated that CRPF IGP Ajay Kumar Yadav, who heads the Operations Headquarters here, paid homage at the martyr�s memorial by laying wreath, which was followed by the inspection of guard of honour in the campus.

Later, addressing the officers and the jawans on the occasion, the IGP highlighted the glorious past of the Central force and its contribution towards nation building and maintaining peace and harmony across the country, the release said.

The CRPF came into existence as Crown Representative�s Police on July 27, 1939.

After Independence, the force was renamed as Central Reserve Police Force by an Act of Parliament on December 28, 1949, the release further said.

Over the years, the force has grown into a big organisation with more than 3.20 lakh personnel making it the largest paramilitary force of the world, the release added.
