UDALGURI, March 12 - In a daring daylight theft, a CRPF jawan identified as Ramesh Deka (31) was robbed of a bag containing cash amounting to three lakh rupees in the heart of Kalaigaon town in Udalguri district.
The victim and his wife had withdrawn the amount from SBI Mangaldai branch and were on way back to their home in Kalaigaon and halted in the town for buying goods when two bike-borne youths broke open the scooter storage box and fled with the bag. The victim has lodged an FIR at Kalaigaon PS following which cops have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
In recent times, burglars have been quite active in the Udalguri district and many such incidents have been reported. The gang which is working in a organised manner and running a state-wide network could not be apprehended by the district police till date.
