SILCHAR, Nov 19 - The Silchar Veteran Cricketers Club (SVCC) extended felicitation to cricketers, umpires and sports journalists during its fourth annual felicitation event on Thursday.
In a function held at a local hotel, five sports journalists Anirban Jyoti Gupta, Samudrasihar Biswas, Bedabrata Bannerjee, Shubhendu Das and Shanku Sarma, 14 cricketers who played Third Division cricket representing the club, umpires of Silchar DSA and emerging cricketers were feted. A specially-abled cricketer and a noted artist Abhijit Gotani was given a special award.
Abhay Deb got the promising cricketer award. Rahul Singh, who had been with Rajasthan Royals camp in the recently concluded IPL in Dubai, was also felicitated on the occasion. Raju Das, who scored 585 runs in the 2019-20 season, was given the Cricketer of the Year Male award while Khushi Sharma walked away with the Cricketer of the Year Female award.
