SHILLONG, March 31 - The two-day Craft Bazaar 2019 organised by NIFT Shillong came to a close at its Campus at Lawmali here Saturday.
NIFT, under the craft cluster initiative, has a project integrated into the course curriculum where students adopt clusters in various parts of North East and conduct explorative study, explore the possibilities for design-intervention in the existing crafts for better market linkages and opportunities through craft research. It provides a platform to the artisans for exhibiting the design-intervened craft products, serves as a multi-throng purpose of exhibiting, sale and market testing of the craft products.
The core objective of the craft cluster initiative is to bring about sustainable livelihood to the lives of the artisans, and empower them through the intervention of NIFT. A large number of artisans and weavers from different part of NE participated in the event.
