CPM to contest LS polls in Tripura alone

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, March 6 - Tripura CPI(M) secretary Gautam Das has rejected speculations of an electoral tie-up with any political party in the State for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

There is speculation that the CPI(M) is to going to forge an alliance in the State, but this is not true. The party will field candidates in both the Lok Sabha constituencies in Tripura on its own, he said here today.

The clarification assumes significance after the partys national stand on an informal understanding with the Congress. As per the understanding, the Congress will contest election where the Left is absent, while the Left parties will field candidates where they are relatively stronger than Congress.
