CPM sit-in stir on at Naduar

JAMUGURIHAT, Aug 24 - Members of the Jamuguri and North Jamuguri units of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) have been on a five-day sit-in stir in front of the Naduar Anchalik Panchayat Office here from 10 am of August 21 demanding the fulfilment of their 12-point charter of demands.

The demands of the party are: to provide adequate compensation to the 2012 flood victims, permanent solution to the wild elephant menace in the area, protection of villages from erosion of Jia Bharali, control of the sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities, regular supply of rice, wheat, sugar, kerosene oil through cooperatives, allotment of land to the landless and homeless, issue of land patta to the farmers occupying lands, end of corruption in the allotment of Indira Awas Yojana houses, repair and construction of bridges in the area, repair and improvement of various roads of the area including the NH-52 etc.
