CPI(ML) names candidates for five seats

TEZPUR, March 8 � The CPI (ML) has announced its candidates for 5 Lok Sabha seats. In a press meet held here on Thursday, the State secretary of the party, Bibek Das announced the candidates� list.

For the Tezpur Lok Sabha seat the party has put up ACMS�s assistant secretary Lakhikanta Kurmi, for the Kaliabor seat central secretary of Asom Gramin Sramik Sontha, Arup Kumar Mahanta, for the Dibrugarh seat Subhas Sen, general secretary of AICCTU, for the Lakhimpur seat Debnath Majhi and for the Diphu seat, Pratima Inghi, a central member of CPI (ML) and president of Karbi Nimshow Chinthow Association.

On the other hand, addressing the press meet Bibek Das further informed that for the remaining 9 parliamentary seats candidates from other leftist parties would be given priority as first choice while the Aam Admi Party (AAP) candidates would be their second choice. �We have been discussing the election-related issues with other leftist parties and if the discussion is fruitful, then we will be able to come to a decision regarding the candidate,� Bibek Das said adding the party�s election manifesto would include the issue of Ganga Ram Kol murder case, security to the farmers and their agricultural lands, the Biswanath Chariali-Chaoldhowa massacre, inter-State and international border issues, withdrawal of Act of the special power to the security forces etc.
